Label TextThis sketch captures a view depicted multiple times in completed works by Sloan. The painting Jefferson Market, Sixth Avenue, 1917, captures this vista in sparkling sunlight, while the etching Snowstorm in the Village, 1925, depicts the scene as snow blows dramatically across the picture. Both versions frame the composition vertically. With its strong diagonals and white roofs, this drawing seems most closely related to the etching.
