Label TextThis painting is probably a portrait of Moses Levy Moses (1773–1843) of New York, whose brother Solomon married Rachel Gratz of Philadelphia. The portrait descended through their family to Belle Battey Mansfield, who donated the work to the Museum in 1972, a year after the Museum acquired a Sully painting of Rebecca Gratz (sister of Rachel).Thomas Willoughby Nason
