Label TextFor this series, Chimes worked with only two paint colors: titanium white and Mars black. Each painting consists of 20 or more layers of glazes applied in meticulous horizontal strokes and sanded smooth. Images and inscriptions are revised, emphasized, or covered over from layer to layer. Using a knife, he created embossed and inscribed elements.
