Label TextEffie Stillman was the daughter of the Pre-Raphaelite painter Marie Spartali Stillman and her husband, the journalist, William James Stillman. Effie was an accomplished sculptor, as reflected in this touching portrait of her mother. She was also the creator of the statue of the statesman, Thomas F. Bayard, which now stands at the end of Bancroft Parkway, in front of the Museum.
