Label TextCartoonist George McManus was best known as the creator of Irish immigrant Jiggs and his wife Maggie, the constantly rowing main characters of his syndicated comic strip Bringing Up Father. The characters became so popular that MGM made "Bringing Up Father" into a 1928 silent film. A series of five Maggie and Jiggs films followed in the late 1940s.
