Label TextAn early 20th-century English architectural and landscape etcher and watercolorist, Albany Howarth began his career as a drawing apprentice in an architectural firm. Around 1905 he emerged as a major etcher and frequently exhibited at the Fine Arts Society and the Royal Academy. He was elected an Associate of the Royal Engravers in 1920. Windermere is the largest natural lake in England, located in the Lake District of Cumbria. It became a popular holiday destination in 1847 when the new rail line made it more easily accessible. (msf)
