Label TextOriginally called the Society of American Painters, Sculptors, and Gravers, the New Society of Artists was founded in 1919 to promote the work of modern American artists. The association held annual exhibitions at various art galleries and later at the Brooklyn Museum and the Whitney Museum of American Art. Glackens was a founding member.
