Label TextAlbert Moore was a key participant in the quest for “beauty” in all its purity. A quiet, reticent man, he was friendly with various members of the Pre-Raphaelite circle. Around 1865, he came under the influence of James McNeill Whistler (1834-1903) and began working in a more decorative manner. The harmony of the pale yellow of the gown, the peach colored head-wrap, and the muted tones of tile and foliage are the single-minded focus of this serene composition.
