Label TextA native of Chicago, Will Carqueville founded his own lithographic press there after his art studies in Paris, where he became familiar with a wide range of poster illustration. He designed posters for American magazines, including the literary monthly Lippincott's, which published work by Willa Cather and Oscar Wilde, among many other notable authors. Carqueville’s style features simple, graceful compositions with distinct outlines and flat areas of color, traits shared with Edward Penfield.
