Label TextWhile Denslow is most famous as one of the early illustrators of the Wizard of Oz stories, he was also a poster designer. He created a number of posters advertising books, maps and textbooks published by Rand McNally. In the 1890s, posters were collected and framed as an inexpensive art form. An 1896 newspaper announcement notified readers that for one dollar they could own three "charmingly executed posters in colors, drawn by W. W. Denslow" and others.
