Label TextTrained as a lithographer, illustrator William M. Goodes ran the art department of the John D. Avil Company in Philadelphia; he also worked for the Historical Publishing Company there. His cartoons appeared in newspapers, as well as Lippincott's, Puck, Judge and Century, and other major magazines.
