Label TextIn the early teens, Abraham Walkowitz studied in Paris, where he was exposed to the most modern European art. He met Picasso and Matisse, as well as the American collectors Gertrude and Leo Stein. In New York during the 1913 Armory Show, Walkowitz created this completely non-representational composition, inspired in part by the ideas of Wassily Kandinsky.
