Label TextThis is one of several drawings of women in the nursery that Sloan produced in about 1894 when he was working for the Philadelphia Inquirer and developing his distinctive poster style of newspaper illustration. However, research has failed to locate published versions in the Inquirer. It may be that Sloan designed the drawings as illustrations for an article, but they were not used.
