Label TextElizabeth Talford Scott embroiders and beads fabrics for quilts, ornamenting them with stones, buttons, shells, bones and other found materials. Influenced by African and African American techniques and traditions, she incorporates vibrantly-colored cloth from around the world that she assembles into asymmetrical shapes and patterns. This work combines the memory of her grandfather's house and garden with the biblical tale of Noah's Ark. Symbols of flowers, stars, insects and other creatures appear on the densely stitched surface of the quilt.
