Label TextArthur Hughes was one of the most prolific illustrators within the Pre-Raphaelite circle. This image accompanied a poem of the same title by Robert Buchanan (1841-1901) which appeared in the popular periodical, Good Words. Buchanan would later become notorious among the Pre-Raphaelites for his attack on Dante Gabriel Rossetti’s poems in an article entitled “The Fleshly School of Poetry.”Arthur Ignatius Keller
