Label TextAnne Truitt referred to her luminous works on paper, which the artist began creating and exhibiting in the early 1970s, as “color fields.” The use of this descriptor, and her glowing washes of color, illustrate the influence of Washington, D.C.-based Color Field painters Morris Louis and Kenneth Noland, both of whom Truitt knew well.
