Label TextFrench painter Maurice Denis designed this advertising poster for the newspaper Depeche. Usually translated as dispatch, or flash, the name suggested the speed of modern communication. In the flowing lines of Art Nouveau, a woman - the quill pen in her hair suggests the paper's text - reads Depeche, hovering above a crowd of people who reach for its floating pages. The newspaper crosses telegraph wires, implying that the news travels speedily from distant places.Louis Maurice Boutet de Monvel
