Label TextAuthor Carolyn Wells wrote nineteen "Patty Fairfield" novels, described by one reviewer as "packed with excitement and interest for girls." Patty experiences various travels, adventures, and domestic dramas with a recurring cast of characters. In this scene, she admires the trousseau of the woman who is about to marry her widowed father. Clara D. Davidson was a student at the Women's Art School of Cooper Union and the Art Students League in New York City before her four years of study and travel in Europe. Produced in her Manhattan studio, her illustrations appeared in several popular magazines. She also widely exhibited her drawings and paintings.
