Label TextAn artist and illustrator living in Greenwich Village, Jacobsen produced cartoons for The Masses and the New York Tribune and designed sets for the Provincetown Players. These associations brought him into the circle of John Sloan and the Society of Independent Artists, a group that presented open (no jury, no prizes) exhibitions of contemporary American art in New York each spring from 1917 to 1944. According to the inscription, these drawings were produced at the dinner celebrating one of these exhibitions.
