Label TextIn his review of Levi's first solo exhibition, Edward Alden Jewell wrote in The New York Times: "Common objects associated with the life of fishermen appear transformed into strange, arresting shapes—a bit of twisted old pier, an ancient weathered bulkhead, boots set out to dry on the sand, driftwood, buoys with their wraithlike flags. These can appear caught as in a trance, yet somehow animate; and they are as real as is the occasional human figure, introduced with telling casualness, intensifying the spell of breathless, salt-steeped, wind-swept melancholy."
