Label TextTony Sarg gained fame both for his illustration in children's books and for reviving the marionette theatre in the United States. He left his native Germany in 1923 for England, where he worked as an illustrator for an advertising agency and for popular magazines. Settled in America by 1915, he became a book illustrator and branched out into several other design categories, including marionette theater, toys, puzzles, and the flying helium character balloons used in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parades.
