Label TextDuring the 1870s, Spartali Stillman began a friendship with Jane Morris and her husband, Arts and Crafts pioneer William. Over the ensuing years the two women became close, often spending time together at Kelmscott Manor. The Cotswold stone farmhouse was the Morris family’s beloved country house. These visits are recorded in paintings of the house, such as this one.
