Label TextLauren Ewing is known primarily for her installation art and her interest in industrialization and institutional architecture. The floating silhouette in this print is based on her 1981 sculpture, The Powerhouse: A Device for Gaining Heart, and here she has repeated that image throughout an archival photograph of a bustling boulevard in Paris. Her title, For Magritte, references the Belgian Surrealist artist’s similar compositional elements.
