Label TextIn the early 20th century Ernest Peixotto and his wife, the writer Mary Peixotto, traveled through Europe, where he made many picturesque drawings like this one, some of which would be used in travel books and articles for Scribner's Magazine. The couple rented an apartment in Paris, where Peixotto produced this drawing of the entrance to the themed nightspot, Cabaret de L'Enfer, or Hell's Cafe.Louis Maurice Boutet de Monvel
