Label TextIn Greek mythology, Icarus was the foolish son of Daedalus, the engineer who designed the Labyrinth. Icarus attempted to fly using wings made with wax. When he came too close to the sun, his wings melted and he fell to his death. This tragic story featuring a boy with bird's wings held great appeal for Baskin, whose favorite subjects during his early career were men and birds.
