Label TextBaskin's portrait of French romantic painter Théodore Géricault (1791–1824) is probably based on his death mask-a cast of his face made shortly after he died. Best known for his gruesome painting, The Raft of the Medusa, 1818–1819, Géricault was also an accomplished lithographer.
