It depicts the reading of the proclamation of Gurdon Saltonstall, the governor of the colony of Connecticut, declaring November 8, 1821, as a day of "Publick Thanksgiving."Donor Marjorie Virdin (1899-1978) was a Delaware newspaperwoman, on the staff of the Delaware Coast Press and The Delawarean. She was also active in the Rehoboth Art League.
