Label TextFor this re-telling of African American folk tales, Jerry Pinkey portrays the clever
Brer Rabbit (on throne), who has become the temporary ruler of the animal kingdom. Here, Brer Rabbit has recognized "the very same dog that had been chasing him all over the countryside for more years than Brer Rabbit could count." He takes his royal opportunity to douse the dog (fleeing in right foreground) with the turpentine held by the raccoon and red pepper in the glass container.
