Label TextLes Stoefen was an American tennis player of the 1930s. Playing with George Lott, he won doubles titles at the U.S. National Championships in 1933 and 1934 and at Wimbledon in 1934. In November 1935, perhaps as a joke or a publicity stunt, Stoefen announced his intention to try professional boxing, an unlikely choice for the tall, slender tennis star.
