Label TextMaxfield Parrish's father, Stephen was a talented and respected printmaker. He was also his son's first teacher and a lifelong influence on his work. It was through his father that Maxfield became a consummate draughtsman, a skill that would allow him to work quickly and efficiently as a mature commercial artist. These two works by Stephen Parrish are exemplary of the level of training he would have received from his earliest years.
