Label TextJames Turrell has been exploring his interest in light and space through sculpture, earthworks, and site-specific installations since the 1960s. The Delaware Art Museum commissioned the artist to create a unique work of art for the building renovation, completed in 2005. For this light installation, Turrell installed LED fixtures in the arches and windows on the Museum's facade and in the clerestory on backside of the building. The result is an undulating, colored light that subtly radiates from the building during the hours closest to sunrise and sunset.
