Label TextThis drawing, which mixes humor with a moral message, was appropriate for Life, which originated in 1883 as a light entertainment magazine before its change to news and photojournalism in the 1930s. Angus MacDonall presents the well-worn phrase Opportunity Knocks (along with Success and Honor) in the person of a classically-draped figure noticed only by the dog. The name on the office door aptly reflects the pose of the business owner.
