Label TextMade into the 1924 movie The City That Never Sleeps, Leroy Scott's story “Mother O'Day” centers on a woman who continues to run her Bowery saloon after her husband dies. Wanting a better environment for her daughter, she pays an affluent family to raise her. Years later, daughter Molly--a selfish, snobbish flapper--visits the saloon, which is now a fashionable cabaret. The mother foils a fortune hunter, saving Molly from ruin. Mother and daughter are happily reunited.
