Label TextThis postcard was written on the Sloans' first trip out to Santa Fe, New Mexico, in the summer of 1919. Previous summers had been spent in Gloucester, Massachusetts, with other artist-friends, including Stuart Davis, to whom this letter is addressed. Eventually, at Sloan's recommendation, Davis would come out to Santa Fe, but it was not to his liking. He continued to summer in New England.
