Darryl J. CurranAmerican photographer, born 1935
Born in Santa Barbara, California, Darryl Curran completed an associate degree from Ventura College (1958), and a BA and an MA from the University of California, Los Angeles (1960, 1964), where he studied with Robert Heinecken. In 1967 Curran joined the faculty of California State University, Fullerton, where he founded the Creative Photography BA and MA programs. Curran was a key figure, alongside Heinecken, in forming the Southern California photography scene in the 1960s and 1970s. He has shown at MoMA and Eastman House; his early work was in In Focus: Los Angeles, 1945-1980 at the Getty. Curran's papers are at the Archives of American Art. He is represented by dnj Gallery in Santa Monica.
