David Bates

A native Texan, David Bates was influenced early by his experiences of the land and people of the southern state. Bates was born in Dallas and received both his bachelor's and master's fine arts degrees from Southern Methodist University. Bates' retrospective exhibition travelled to the Nasher Sculpture Center and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth in 2014, and his work is included in the collections of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and the New Orleans Museum of Art, among others.
