Edward AvedisianAmerican painter, 1936–2007

Edward Avedisian was born in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1936 and studied at the Boston Museum School. Avedisian became involved with the generation of post-abstract expressionist painters living in New York including Frank Stella and Larry Poons. He is best known for his brightly-colored abstract canvases associated with Lyrical Abstraction. The artist exhibited in New York throughout the 1960s and early 1970s, and in the late 1970s and 1980s shifted to figurative work and Styrofoam sculpture.
