Louis BosaAmerican painter and printmaker, born Italy, 1905–1981

Born near Venice, Italy, Bosa studied at the Academia della Belle Arti in Venice, before moving to the United States, where he studied with John Sloan at the Art Students League of New York. He is best known for his representations of public life in Venice, New York, and Bucks County, Pennsylvania. His approach ranged from straightforward, painterly depiction to highly stylized and caricatured portrayals. Bosa painted for the Works Progress Administration, and he taught at Parsons and the Art Students League in New York, as well as the Cleveland Institute and Syracuse University.
