American printmaker, 1901–1952
BiographyA native of New York City, Daniel studied at the National Academy of Design and at the Cooper Union with Harry Wickey. He spent time at the MacDowell Colony in New Hampshire and was a member of the Society of American Etchers. His work is represented in the Whitney Museum, the Cooper Union, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the New York Public Library. He produced 14 etchings for a limited edition of Walt Whitman's Songs of the Open Road and in 1940 a group of drawings and paintings for a Book-of-the-Month Club edition of Leaves of Grass.
