Bruce ConnerAmerican assemblage artist and filmmaker, 1933–2008

Bruce Conner was a west coast-based printmaker, sculpture, and filmmaker and key figure in the 1950s San Francisco Beat scene. He collaborated with musicians David Byrne and Brian Eno, and in 1999 the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis presented his retrospective. 63 of Conner's works are in the Walker's collection, and one sculpture currently hangs in the contemporary gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
