Klackner was one of the leading printers and purveyors of fine art prints in New York in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He worked for M. Knoedler and Company for twenty years before starting his own business in 1883. He published prints for Winslow Homer, John George Brown, and Thomas Moran. He reproduced paintings in photographs, photogravures, etchings, color mezzotints, and engravings.
