Mark Villars MarshallBritish artist, fl. 1874–1912

Mark V. Marshall (c. 1878-1912) trained at the Lambeth School of Art as a carver and modeler. He worked at Farmer and Brindley's Masons Yard producing architectural ornament, often moonlighting for the Martin Brother's Pottery. Towards the end of the 1870s he joined Royal Doulton (or Doulton's) as a full-time decorator where he remained until the end of his career. He was recognized as a particularly creative modeler and his best known work features creatures, real and imagined clinging to the neck and body of the pot.
