Selma GubinAmerican artist, 1903–1974

Born in Kiev, Gubin came to the United States with her family in 1908. They settled in New York, and she studied art at Hunter College and the Art Students League. Her instructors included John Sloan, Raphael Soyer, Philip Evergood, and Chaim Gross. She exhibited actively throughout her lifetime, and her work was featured in 15 solo shows. Her work is in the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Museum of the City of New York, and the Fogg Museum in the United States, as well as in public and private collections in Israel.
