John W. GregoryAmerican printmaker and photographer, 1903–1992

Gregory was born in Brooklyn, New York, and studied at the Art Students League with John Sloan. In the early 1930s he moved to Provincetown, Massachusetts, and started a photography business, becoming well-known for his Cape Cod landscapes and portraits of the local people. In 1948 he had a solo show of his work at the Smithsonian Museum. (Biographical information from New England Art Exchange)
