Avis NewcombAmerican fashion model, 20th century
As a young woman, Avis Newcomb worked as a fashion model. She appeared in Condé Nast publications in photographs by Edward Steichen and Anton Bruehl, among others. She and Bruehl became friends, and he produced family photographs for her as well as commercial images. Newcomb was the mother of the artist Margo Allman.
