Charles F. Cajori

Charles Cajori was born in Palo Alto, California and studied at the Colorado Springs Arts Center and the Cleveland Art School before studying in New York at Columbia University in the late 1940s.Cajori became involved with Abstract Expressionism but maintained an interest in the figure. He was a founding member of the Tanager Gallery in New York and was elected as a full National Academician in 1987. Cajori exhibited extensively throughout his career, was recognized with numerous awards and grants, and is included in the public collections of museums throughout the nation including the Museum of Modern Art and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
