Addison BurbankAmerican artist, 1895–1961

Born in Los Angeles, Burbank was the son of the founder of the Oakland Tribune. After attending Santa Clara University and working in San Francisco, he relocated to Winston-Salem, NC, where he was general manager of the Sentinel in 1917. He studied art in Europe and exhibited at Ferargil Galleries in New York. In 1933 he won first prize for a mural at the Century of Progress Exposition in Chicago. He illustrated for national magazines and published books about his travels to Mexico and Guatemala.
