Clinton D. MacKenzieAmerican fiber artist and painter, born 1940

Clinton D. MacKenzie is known as an artist and teacher. Born in Minneapolis, he graduated from Macalester College and earned a master's degree from Cranbrook Academy of Art. He taught at the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, and later taught at the California State University at Fullerton in the art department. He became known for his work in crochet and textiles in the 1970s, and is the author of "New Design in Crochet," published in 1979, which earned him national attention. MacKenzie now resides in Portland, Oregon, and specializes in abstract painting. He is represented in the collections of the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Frederick Wiseman Art Foundation.
