Theodoros StamosAmerican painter, 1922–1997
Theodoros Stamos was the youngest of the Abstract Expressionist painters best known for his infinity field series. Stamos was born in New York in 1922 and studied sculpture under Simon Kennedy and Joseph Kouzal at the American Artists School. He exhibited early in his career at Betty Parsons Gallery and participated in group exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Stamos taught briefly during his career, serving as lecturer at Columbia University in 1966 and as a professor at Brandeis University from 1967–1968.
