A central participant in the feminist art movement, June Wayne is known for her art advocacy, scholarship, and foundation of the Tamarind Lithography Workshop in New Mexico. The artist’s commitment to lithography in in the late 1940s and subsequent founding of Tamarind in 1960 revitalized American interest in the printmaking technique.
